Drama Cultural Storytelling

Your first task was to list all the stories you can remember and write those down on a poster to showcase to others in the class.

Ritual; a ceremony involving a series of actions performed according to a prescribed order.

E.g A wedding  Smart Dress/cake cutting/service/exchange of rings.

Your next task was to create a tableau of a ritual for others in the class to identify.

A successful tableau is where you are absolutely still/use strong clear facial expressions/use exaggerated body language/face the audience

The tableau you created was assessed by your class mates who gave positive feedback using the "stepping stones".

Some cultures use storytelling as a ritual for coming together.

In small groups you were asked to create a ritual to bring people together for storytelling.

Questions on the board were used as a guide for your ritual.

Click on image to enlarge and see the tips for your created ritual and the levels you need to guage your work effort.

Here are two videos of some of the rituals created by your class.

The last task you were given was to create a tableau of a scene from a favourite story.

Art. Picture This 2

How to change proportion.

This piece of work is a collaboration between tutor groups to produce an enlarged image of the painting "Tiger, Storm in a Forest"

WALT             Learn how to scale an image

WILF               Level 4   Quality of drawing.
Level 5   Ability to change proportion.
Level 6   Add tone to the above.

The photocopy of the painting of the Tiger was divided up into 24 equal squares and each of you were given a square.

You had to then copy your section of the painting onto A4 (in so doing enlarging the section).

You divided your A4 sheet into quarters and estimated which parts of the section you had fits into each quarter.

By doing this you are learning how to change the size in proportion to the original.

Drama Comedia Del Arte review and assessment

Here you were expected to demonstrate your understanding of this mine topic Comedia Del Arte.

First of all you had to write down all you could remember about the topic.

After this you had a chance to discuss it as a class.

Then a short scene was devised in small groups with characters chosen by Ms Heather.

After another discussion in groups you had all the information required to create a short performed piece, (scenario)

Next week you are preparing for a performance as part of the assessment.

Art - "Picture This"

Term 2 and a new topic called "Picture This" which will allow you to get to know one artist in detail.

The artist will be Henri Rousseau and his painting "Surprised! Tiger in a Storm" 1891

Henri Rousseau lived in Paris all his life
He never saw a real Tiger.

We have all seen a Tiger (if not for real then pictures or film) and will recognise one instantly but Henri Rousseau had to use paintings/ drawings or verbal descriptions/museums/skins.

Henri Rousseau drew a representation of what how he thought a Tiger may be.
